Born in Tucson, Arizona, James has spent time living in Toronto, Canada; California's Bay Area; Denver, Colorado; and Central and South America. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Regional Development and Business from the University of Arizona, where his studies focused on the revitalization of inner cities, transportation, zoning, and land use — research that shaped his understanding of smart growth and sustainable communities.
While attending university, James began as an independent Real Estate Investment Agent, building valuable relationships while pursuing real estate investment opportunities and ventures. He has worked with investors, developers, planners, architects, engineers, and custom builders on commercial and residential projects across various markets.
James has also been involved in the renewable energy sector, collaborating with companies and leaders in solar technologies and renewable energy solutions. He volunteers his time with Big Brothers Big Sisters and is a supporter of Casa de los Niños in Tucson.
